ABOUT FISD
Our Story
Filipinos In San Diego is a book published in 2010 that captures the stories of Filipinos and the Filipino American experience. It was written by Judy Patacsil, Rudy Guevarra, Jr., Felix Tuyay and the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) San Diego Chapter. This book was the source and inspiration of the creation of the Filipinos of South Bay Exhibit (FoSBE). The FoSBE Curation Team is composed of educators and community leaders who collectively have over 300 years of community involvement and leadership. They curated the exhibit through the lens of kapwa and the bayanihan spirit, recognizing that their identity as Filipino Americans was formed by the community. As organizations were established, they witnessed the elders work in the spirit of Bayanihan by helping and lifting one another and set the example for the next generation.
